Today is the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary to her cousin Elizabeth. The event is described in Luke’s Gospel and records the Magnificat of Mary which begins “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my saviour…”
