Unveiling of restored Wayside Cross at Sacred Heart Parish in Gqeberha

By Lisa Faith Augustine – Following the unfortunate collapse of the Wayside Cross at Sacred Heart parish in Gqeberha on February 21 2023, restoration operations began with the help of the Knights of Da Gama who funded the project together with the Sacred Heart Maintenance team. Michael Barry a renowned artist from Gqeberha came on board and did a magnificent job of restoring the Cross.

Bishop Vincent Zungu blessed the Cross and the plaque was unveiled by Supreme Knight Errol Plaaitjies on Sunday, September 8.

Fr Lubabalo Mguda and the parishioners of Sacred Heart parish are both proud and extremely grateful the Cross once again stands tall.
