Sisters of St Joseph of Hyacintha celebrate St Joseph’s Feast Day
By Bokang Tsoanamatsie – The Congregation of Sisters of St Joseph of Hyacintha in Lesotho commemorated the solemnity of St Joseph at Maria Mabasotho Oblate Pastoral Centre on March 19.
The Holy Mass was officiated by Bishop John Joale Tlhomola SCP of Mohale’s Hoek, with concelebrants Archbishop Tlali Gerard Lerotholi OMI, Fr Ramotinyane Clement Tampane OMI, the Parish Priest of Maria Mabasotho, Fr Charles Matsoso OMI, the Director of Radio Maria, as well as Fr Paul Sebilo, Fr Steven Omator, and Fr Lisema Patrick Tenki.
Among the esteemed guests was Queen Masenate Mohato Seeiso of Lesotho. In his homily, the Archbishop of Maseru remarked that many people today believe their prominence stems from their eloquence. He highlighted St Joseph as a paragon of silence and action, illustrating that one can achieve recognition without being overly talkative. He emphasised that St Joseph, a just man embodying humility and discretion, exemplified the wisdom of fulfilling God’s will.
The newly elected council of the Lesotho Province took their oath before Bishop John Joale Tlhomola SCP, pledging to work collaboratively under the guidance of Mother Provincial Sr Josephine Leotla. Sr Vitalina Nthati Mohale, the Mother Superior, was also present to acknowledge the new council. Attendees included associate members of the St Joseph Sisters from the Archdiocese of Bloemfontein and Lesotho, the St Joseph Sodality from Maria Mabasotho, and the St Joseph Admirers Association from Lesotho.
Queen Masenate expressed her gratitude for the invitation to celebrate the solemnity of St Joseph with the sisters, noting her inspiration from the St Joseph Admirers Association and the St Joseph Sodality. She indicated her intention to request the King’s permission to join the Sodality and asked the members to support her in this endeavour. The Queen assured that she would make every effort to attend the event, barring any urgent commitments.
The celebration concluded with a luncheon at the sisters’ convent in Sekamaneng.
