70 pilgrims led by Fr Sfiso Mpanza journeyed from Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Musgrave, Durban, to the Monastery of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament of the Capuchin Poor Clare Sisters in Melville on 19 July. The Monastery has been designated by Bishop Neil Frank from the Diocese of Mariannhill as an official site for Jubilee Pilgrimage where pilgrims may obtain the indulgence of the Jubilee Year.
The contemplative order started by St Clare of Assisi in the 13th century embraces a life of poverty and centres around the perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Drawing inspiration from the Jubilee logo, pilgrims dressed in the Jubilee colours symbolising all of humanity coming from the four corners of the earth. We give thanks to God for the work of the Poor Clares and for the opportunity to experience many faith-filled moments of prayer, silence and grace at their Monastery.🙏 By Roberta Reddy, Photo Credit: Mark Hunt
