By Bokang Tsoanamatsie – The Bishop of the Qacha’s Nek diocese, Joseph Mopeli  Sephamola OMI, celebrated his 12th episcopal  anniversary at the Maria Mabasotho Oblate Pastoral Centre with Holy Mass.

Bishop Sephamola was ordained as the Bishop of Qacha’s Nek by Archbishop Tlali Gerard Lerotholi OMI on September 21, 2013, succeeding the late Bishop Evaristus Thatho Bitsoane, who passed away in 2010.

At the start of Mass, Bishop Sephamola asked the Maria  Mabasotho congregation to pray for him, seeking strength as the Shepherd of the Qacha’s Nek diocese.

In  his homily, Bishop Sephamola encouraged the congregation of Maria  Mabasotho to consistently pray for those in positions of authority, as  they endure significant pressure from those they lead. He remarked that  the day’s gospel might suggest that Jesus Christ was condoning the  actions of the dishonest steward who reduced the debts of his master’s  debtors; however, He was actually cautioning us about the importance of  honesty, as dishonesty can lead to further deceit.

Bishop  Sephamola noted that even contemporary individuals often employ elaborate language to rationalise their misdeeds. He concluded his homily by reminding the congregation that Jesus Christ has called us to love one another.

At the  conclusion of the Mass, Bishop Sephamola OMI informed the congregation that he would be attending the upcoming  IMBISA gathering from September 24 in Eswatini. He also mentioned that  there would be representation from one Priest, Fr Blom, one youth  representative, Ms Thuto Matobo, and one representative of the  faithful, Mrs Mabore Ntepe.

He  expressed gratitude to the Maria Mabasotho congregation for their warm  welcome and for making prayer enjoyable, particularly through their  singing talents. He encouraged the congregation to always utilise their  gifts for the benefit of others and to glorify God.

Bishop  Sephamola was born in Tsoelike on March 14, 1960, and served as the  Oblate of Mary Immaculate Provincial of Lesotho Oblates before his  nomination as the Bishop of Qacha’s Nek
