New deacons ordained for the Archdiocese of Maseru

By Bokang Tsoanamatsie – The Archbishop of Maseru, His Grace Tlali Gerard Lerotholi OMI, has ordained five new deacons for the Archdiocese of Maseru.

Br  Lehlohonolo Michael Rantho, Br Bartholomew Taolana Tsoeunyane, Br Tsepo  Sylvester Letlaka, Br Mokone Matiea, and Br Thabang Ngatane are the  newly ordained deacons of the Archdiocese of Maseru. The ordination  ceremony was held at Our Lady of Victories Cathedral in the Archdiocese  of Maseru on the solemnity of the Exaltation of the Cross.

The  Holy Mass for the ceremony was led by His Grace Tlali Gerard Lerotholi  OMI. During his homily, His Grace Lerotholi reminded the new deacons  that their ordination to the diaconate coincides with the Church’s  celebration of the highest feast, the Exaltation of the Cross. This  should serve as a constant reminder for them to bear their crosses and  follow Christ. His Grace Lerotholi emphasised that as reverents, they  should not wait for instructions but should take the initiative to act.  He stated that they are aware of their responsibilities and should not  require reminders to fulfill them. He further urged them to preach the  gospel of the Lord sincerely and  to deliver homilies  that do not make the gospel appear ‘tired’.

These new deacons are already engaged in pastoral work across various parishes within the Archdiocese of Maseru.

Br  Tsoeunyane and Br Letlaka are serving at Our Lady of Victories  Cathedral. Br Matiea is assigned to St John Tlali Parish, Br Ngatane is  at Our Lady of Sion in Mapoteng, while Br Rantho is at Nazareth Parish.

The  faithful in the Archdiocese of Maseru are eagerly looking forward to  the priestly ordination  of the deacons who were ordained prior to these new  deacons. The Archdiocese of Maseru is in need of more priests, as it has  a greater number of parishes than any other diocese in the Mountain  Kingdom of Lesotho.

We extend our best wishes to  the new deacons as they embark on their journey towards the priesthood,  for the harvest of the Lord is plentiful.
