A poem by Qeneso Mohapi, technical producer and videographer, Radio Veritas –
We cry but we rise
We cry, but we rise
Rea lla, Siya khala
But we Rise
We cry, but we rise
Like the youth of Jerusalem
Our eyes are heavy
“Out of the depths, I cry to you oh Lord”
In jobless nights, those words echoing, echoing in your head?
(Telling you “await your turn”)
Our Voices shake like Jeremiah…
I am, I am only a child.
We cry, but we rise
But even in tears, we remember:
“God is near to the brokenhearted”
But listen, listen Beloved

Behold… June 16!!
Our tears are the seed, not the end of the story.
Psalm 126 says “Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.”
Ntate Mbuyisa, Mme Sithole, Ntate Malusi…Re le rolela kgaebana, mmoho le bo mphatho ba lona.
We cry from the pain but we dance from the promise. Because weeping may last for the night but…but joy comes in the morning.
So we wipe our eyes, and we rise.
We cry but we rise.
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, the plans for welfare and not the evil.
They say WE, we are the future.
Paul tells us “do not let anyone look down on you, because you are Young, set an example. For the believers in speech, in conduct, love, faith and in purity.
We cry, but we rise.
So when we rise, we hustle, we serve, 1000 Hail Mary’s shall take us through.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.
Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you…
The Virgin of the Most High, pray for us.
Our laughter is loud because our faith is louder.
“You are the light of the world”…says Mathew 5.
So yes, we cry, but we RISE.
We cry with Christ in Gethsemane, we cry for those who fell on June 16, but watch us smile through it.
Because youth day is not just a memory.
John 10:10 says I, I came that they may have life, and not just life, but have it abundantly.
Freedom is coming tomorrow.
Freedom is coming, so let’s cry and dust ourselves off, and remember that YOU are the freedom, YOU are the light.
We cry, but we rise.
Happy Youth Month!
