The team responsible for the Neocatechumenal Way in Southern Africa recently met with Archbishop Dabula Anthony Mpako of Pretoria for a meeting focused on evangelisation and synodality, as well as on the pastoral needs of the local Church.
During the meeting, Dino Furgione renewed the organisation’s obedience and support for the diocesan pastoral ministry, with particular attention to young people and families. He expressed the desire of the Neocatechumenal Way to continue working in communion with the Archdiocese and to contribute generously to its evangelising mission.
Archbishop Mpako expressed his gratitude for the good that the Neocatechumenal Way is doing in the Archdiocese, especially through its efforts to reach those who are distant from Christ. He recognised the importance of this missionary presence and encouraged the team to continue with courage and faith.
The Archbishop also invited the Neocatechumenal Way to look to the Virgin Mary as a model for their mission. Mary, he emphasised, always knows how to recognise and bring forth the goodness present in every situation. Her example is an invitation to approach people and circumstances with faith, hope and confidence in God’s work.
The meeting was therefore an opportunity to strengthen communion between the Neocatechumenal Way and the diocesan pastoral ministry, renewing the shared commitment to evangelisation and to accompanying young people, families and those who are far from the Church on their journey toward Christ.
