By Claire Mmuoe – Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church, Randfontein, gathered for a solemn Healing and Anointing Mass on Sunday, 20 September. At the request of Fr Bernard Sompane SCJ, parishioners came dressed in black and carried candles, joining in prayer for all the women who have fallen victim to femicide.
This act of remembrance, held in collaboration with Justice and Peace, was both a cry for awareness and a testament of faith in action.
Following the Mass, the ladies of the St Vincent de Paul Society served tea and sandwiches in honour of their patron saint, whose feast day will be celebrated next week. Their gesture reflected the Vincentian spirit of charity and hospitality, reminding us that our parish life is rooted in love and service.
Saint Anthony of Padua Said; ” Charity is the soul of faith, it gives it life; without love, faith dies.”
May God continue to bless the Vincentian women, Justice and Peace, and all who serve, for the tireless work they do in building a parish of faith, compassion, and solidarity.
