Laudate Dominum

lent3_590Laudate omnes gentes – is the first line of Psalm 117 in Latin. In our parish it is sung in place of the Alleluia during Lent.

In case you didn’t a) Know the Latin or b) Know what it meant – here’s the Latin and the translation.

Laudate omnes gentes, laudate Dominum
Sing praises, all you peoples, sing praises to the Lord.

The General Instruction for the Mass states: During Lent, instead of the Alleluia, the verse before the Gospel as given in the Lectionary is sung. It is also possible to sing another Psalm or Tract, as found in the Graduale.

So what are you singing in place of the Alleluia in your parish?
