In one of his columns, Fr Ron Rolheiser OMI mentions the reason for Jesus’ agony in the garden. He says that it was not easy for Jesus to link with a divine source outside himself in prayer. He then concludes that this was the reason for his agony in the Garden of Gethsemane.

US Catholic School Removes Cosby Name from Building

St Frances Academy in Baltimore has removed the name of its “Drs. Camille and Bill Cosby Community Center” after Bill Cosby was convicted on three counts of aggravated indecent assault for drugging and sexually assaulting a woman. The letters on the building came down the same day.

Young Women: ‘Why we are SVP Members’

Two young people had a desire to make a difference in their community and Church, and have been able to do so by joining the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP). Ofentse Mahasha, who is 19, and Lindokuhle Mwelase, 22, both of St Philip Neri parish in Moletsane, Soweto, said that through the SVP, their eyes have been opened to the needs of many families.

Feeling a Fool Because of May

Some of the children at my son’s school have been tasked with learning the maypole dance. The dance is performed by pairs of boys and girls who stand alternately around the base of the maypole — a painted pole, decorated with flowers, around which people traditionally dance on May Day — each holding the end of a ribbon.
