Mercy Day at St Teresa’s School

Nayna Chetty, Nandi Itsweng and Kelly Lees (Grade 1)

Every year St Teresa’s School celebrates Mercy Day as the school was founded by the Sisters of Mercy.

Mercy Day is celebrated by acts of kindness and giving to those in need. This year the Junior Primary School in Craighall Park collected toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and face cloths. The girls made up packs containing each of these items and a card for the recipient. Some packs were given to Charity Fusion to distribute to the homeless and destitute living within our community who visit Charity Fusion’s Soup Kitchen at the Scout Hall in Buckingham Avenue, Craighall Park, every Thursday.

The rest of the packs were given to Sizanani Outreach Programme, an NPO that delivers home-based care, counselling and services to disadvantaged families in Nkandla, Kwa-Zulu, Natal.
