A wonderful occurrence took place at the farewell for the Sisters of St Brigid at Christ the New Man Church in Garankuwa, north of Pretoria yesterday.
The mother of Bishop Robert Mphiwe of the Diocese of Rustenburg received the April 2021 issue of the Southern Cross magazine, featuring her son on the cover, for the first time.
The proud mother, who is deaf, expressed her joy at receiving the magazine.
“I knew that Robert had been featured in the magazine, but I could not get my hands on a copy. It was unavailable at our parish until recently. I look forward to reading the article and the entire magazine. I will be buying a copy of the Southern Cross at my parish from now on, now that it’s available for sale. I’d like to express my deepest gratitude to the Southern Cross magazine for publishing my son’s story in the magazine. May God bless the Southern Cross“, she said.
Bishop Mphiwe was ordained as the third bishop of the Rustenburg diocese on February 27, 2021. He succeeded long-time bishop, Kevin Dowling.
