Understanding Jesus Christ in Our Lives
By James Katende – Understanding Jesus Christ in our lives means recognising His central role in shaping our identity, our purpose, and our relationship with God. Jesus is not just a historical figure; He is the Son of God who came to redeem humanity and offer us eternal life.
In understanding Jesus, we come to grasp His sacrificial love, His perfect example of obedience, and His mission to reconcile us with the Father. Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection offer a pathway to salvation, not by our own merit but by grace through faith. He invites us into a relationship with Him, where we can experience His peace, joy, and guidance daily.
Understanding Jesus in our lives also means allowing His teachings to shape how we live. His commands to love God and love others provide the foundation for our interactions with the world, and His example of service, humility, and sacrifice challenges us to live out these values. In addition, understanding Jesus is about recognising His ongoing work in our lives through the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to live according to God’s will. As we grow in our understanding of who Jesus is, we are transformed by His love and become more like Him, reflecting His character in everything we do.
How to become a child in the eyes of Jesus Christ
To become children in the eyes of Jesus Christ is to embrace a posture of humility, trust, and dependence on God, much like a child looks to a parent for guidance and care. Jesus teaches that to enter the kingdom of God, we must become like little children, trusting and open to receiving from God with a pure heart (Matthew 18:3). Being children in the eyes of Jesus means setting aside our pride and self-sufficiency and recognising our need for God’s grace. It means coming to God with a sense of awe, wonder, and receptivity, willing to learn and grow in our faith.
Children are trusting, and in the same way, we are called to trust God fully, believing that He knows what is best for us and will guide us on the right path. To become like children also involves surrendering our will to God, allowing Him to lead us with the same unconditional love and care that a child experiences from their parent. Jesus’ words remind us that greatness in His kingdom is found not in power or position but in humility and a childlike faith that is eager to follow and obey. Becoming children in the eyes of Jesus Christ is about cultivating a relationship of love and trust, where we come to God with open hearts, ready to receive His care, guidance, and blessing.
