Repent and Turn to Jesus Christ
By James Katende – The hour grows late, and the cry rings out across the earth, calling every soul to awaken from the deep sleep of complacency and sin. A day of reckoning draws near, swift and sure as the rising sun.
The time has come to turn your heart, to repent and seek the mercy that only Jesus Christ offers, lest your soul be lost in the eternal shadow of separation from God. The choice stands before you now—embrace the light of salvation or remain in the darkness that leads to destruction.
Look around and see the signs. The world groans under the weight of its rebellion, and the hearts of men grow cold and hard. In their pride, many refuse to bow, many reject the call to repentance. But know this—God is not slow in His promises, nor careless with justice. The wages of sin is death, eternal death apart from Him who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23). Without Jesus, there is no salvation, no hope beyond the grave. Hell is real, a place of torment prepared for the devil and his angels, but many souls follow the path that leads there.
Yet, God’s love is deeper and wider than the ocean, and His mercy endures forever. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to bear the punishment that you deserve. (John 3:16). Upon the cross, Jesus took your sins upon Himself—every lie, every act of rebellion, every wicked thought—so that you might be forgiven. His blood was shed to cleanse you and restore you to fellowship with God. The stone was rolled away, the grave could not hold Him, and He rose, victorious over death and hell. This victory is yours to claim through faith and repentance.
Turn now, while the door is still open. Do not harden your heart as the people of old who refused to listen and perished in their stubbornness. (Hebrews 3:15). Jesus stands at the door of your heart and knocks. (Matthew 7:7-8). If you hear His voice, open the door and receive Him. Confess your sins with a humble and broken spirit. Ask for His forgiveness, and He will cleanse you, making you new. This is the narrow path that leads to eternal life, and it is open to all who come in faith. (Matthew 7:14).
Beware the deception that tells you there is more time, that your sins are small or that you can earn your way to heaven. No amount of good works or self-righteousness can bridge the gulf caused by sin. It is only through the blood of Jesus Christ that you are made righteous before God. To reject this gift is to reject life itself, for apart from Christ, there is only death and separation from the presence of God forever. The Bible warns of a great and terrible judgment day when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. (Philippians 2:10)
Make a Decision to follow Jesus
This is the hour of decision. Do not delay or turn away. The devil seeks to deceive and distract you, to lull you into a false peace while your soul remains in peril. He prowls like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. But Jesus came to give you life, and life abundantly. He is the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep. His love will not let you go if you only reach out to Him with a sincere heart.
Repentance is more than sorrow for sin; it is a turning, a complete change of direction. It means forsaking the old life of rebellion and walking in the newness of life that Christ offers. It means renouncing the ways that lead to destruction and embracing the ways of holiness and obedience. The Holy Spirit will come and dwell within you, guiding you into all truth, giving you strength to overcome temptation and to live a life pleasing to God. Your past does not disqualify you; His grace is sufficient for all who call upon His name.
Remember the parable of the prodigal son, who squandered all he had but was welcomed home with open arms when he returned in repentance. That same love and forgiveness are offered to you now. Do not let pride or fear keep you from coming to the Saviour. His arms are stretched wide, ready to receive you. He waits patiently, longing to fill your life with peace, joy, and eternal hope. The invitation stands—come as you are, but come.
