Understanding Why God Does Things We Don’t Understand
By James Katende – There are moments in life that leave us speechless. Sudden loss. Delays in breakthrough. Dreams that seem to die. We search for answers, but often find silence. And it’s in that silence that we wrestle with the question: Why would God allow this?
The truth is, we serve a God who sees the beginning from the end. What confuses us never confuses Him. His ways are higher. His wisdom is perfect. We see one piece of the puzzle—He holds the entire masterpiece. Trusting Him doesn’t mean we’ll always understand. It means we choose to believe His heart even when we don’t understand His hand.
Joseph didn’t understand the betrayal by his brothers. David didn’t understand the years of running from Saul. Mary and Martha didn’t understand why Jesus delayed when Lazarus was dying. But in every case, what didn’t make sense at the moment was part of a plan far bigger than they could imagine.
God doesn’t owe us explanations—but He gives us promises. That He is with us. That He works all things for our good. That He never wastes pain. So even when life doesn’t make sense, God still does. His silence is not His absence. His delay is not His denial.
You don’t need to understand everything to trust Him in anything. Let faith rise even in the mystery. Because in time, what was once hidden will become clear. Until then—trust that He is good, and He is working.
