How many couples in the world can say that both husband and wife are  CEOs? South Africa has a remarkable example in Deacon Sy Mamabolo and  his wife, Butsi Tladi Mamabolo.

Deacon Sy is the Chief Electoral Officer of the Electoral Commission of  South Africa, entrusted with overseeing the country’s electoral  processes. His wife, Butsi, is CEO of Alexander Forbes Corporate  Services, a demanding leadership role in the financial services sector.  Two leaders, two demanding careers, one family under one roof.

But there is another dimension to their story that makes this couple  particularly special. Both are firmly rooted in the Catholic faith.  Deacon Sy serves the Church as a permanent deacon, while Butsi is a  member of the St Anne Sodality. Together, they are raising their two children while navigating the demands of leadership, family life and  service to others.

It is a remarkable combination of professional responsibility and  Catholic commitment, and a powerful reminder that faith does not end at  the church door. It accompanies us into our boardrooms, our public  institutions and our homes.

As Deacon Sy prepares to lead the country’s electoral administration  towards the local government elections on 4 November, we wish him  wisdom, strength and integrity in this vital responsibility.

May God bless Deacon Sy, Butsi and their two children. May their family  continue to inspire others through their faith, their service and their  example of leadership in both the Church and society.
