Salt+Light interview with Dr Philip Berger

Dr Philip Berger, an observant Jew, is Medical Director of the Inner City Health Program at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, and the former Chief of its Department of Family and Community Medicine. He is also an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Berger has published and lectured widely on critical health issues including drug addiction, the physical and psychological effects of torture, and HIV/AIDS.

In 2012, Dr. Berger co-founded Canadian Doctors for Refugee Care, a group of physicians and residents who have participated in protests and other activities to oppose cuts to refugee health care in Canada.
