Schoenstatt Sister Marina Lawrence Rest in Peace

Sr Anne Gray and Sr Marina Lawrence (right) celebrated their golden jubilees as members of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary in Constantia, Cape Town. With them is Archbishop Stephen Brislin
Sr Marina Lawrence who sadly passed away unexpectedly yesterday evening from natural causes. Sr Anne was with her when she died rather peacefully and quickly. During the afternoon she was quite lucid asking for some cream soda to drink which our Provincial, Sr Joanne still gave her at about 5 pm. Two and half hours later on the feast of the Holy Innocents she was called home.
Sr Marina spent most of her years committed to teaching – early learning – and the Maryland Literacy Programme really contributed in no small way towards literacy on the Cape Flats and further afield in the rural areas. She celebrated her golden jubilee in 2017
Notice from Sr M Connie :
Since we as a community are still in quarantine until the end of this December her requiem mass will probably be next week and will be transmitted live due to Covid 19 protocols. Further details will be passed on as we are all trying to get our heads and hearts around this loss. Whilst dealing with the loss of our sister we also extend our sincere condolences to SrMarina’s family and all those whose lives she touched.
