Vocations Sunday in Mariannhill Diocese

Vocations-Sunday-Mariannhill

By Sr Maria Kampila SU  – On this year’s Good Shepherd Sunday, Bishop Augustine Neil Frank OMI , hosted the Mariannhill Diocese Religious (men and women), at St Murumba Parish in Mbumbulu, to share about the vocation to Religious Life with all the youths.

The beautiful celebration was well attended by different Religious Congregations including, Congregation of the Missionaries of Mariannhill (CMM), Third Order of Regular Penance (TOR), Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI), Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood (CPS), Daughters of St Francis of Assisi (FSF), Poor Clares Sisters, Daughters of Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (FCSCJ) and Ursuline Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary (SU).

During the Mass, Sister Antonia Khathi SU delivered a presentation on “What is a Call or Vocation?” In conjunction with this, her book titled “It Is Possible: My Vocation Journey” was launched. In this book, Sister Antonia shares her own calling as a means to encourage young individuals who may feel they are hearing God’s call but are struggling to make a firm decision due to various distractions.

The day continued positively as all the religious present gathered in the Parish Hall after the Holy Mass, socialising with the young girls and boys. These young people were given the opportunity to ask questions about the vocation to the priesthood and religious life.

A “bring and share” lunch was shared, and everyone enjoyed the meal. The day could be summarised as celebrating “the Joy of Being Religious.”
