Rich. Filthy rich. That’s what they are. Off of our vanities and insecurities, they are made wealthy. In their eyes we are piglets to be raised for slaughter. They will press and pull at our flesh and then turn us on our backs and say to the butcher: “Cut it here.”
General Intention: That economists may have the courage to reject any economy of exclusion and know how to open new paths. It’s important to know what things are for, especially if we dedicate our lives to them. Today economists are being asked what the economy is for.
This Holy Week we will hear a lot about redemption and how Christ’s death on the cross redeemed mankind. In our modern usage, to redeem something means “to buy it back”; and in Holy Week we can use that idea.
